Casa dos Almeidas is located on the main street of the town of Sardoal, next to the Town Hall and facing Espírito Santo chapel as well as several buildings, dwellings and small businesses.
The first palace is thought to have been commissioned at the end of the XVII century by the Count of Abrantes and Earl of Sardoal, where it guets its designation "dos Almeidas" from, a designation that persisted to the present time. The current building with stately traits, has been rebuilt on the second and third quarter of the XVIII century by the Moura e Mendonça family, Sardoal's main nobility who made it their residence. In front of the house, buildings can be seen that were once used as dwellings for servants as well as horse stables.
This manor house with considerable dimension, has a plan developing longitudinally, made of two and three sloping roofs, intersecting and creating differentiation. The main façade is made of four parts, two stories high, stretching along different lengths, separated with pilasters and topped with gables, verge and roof.
Relevant architectural elements are the iron railings, on the balconys forming floral and winding motifs, and on the entrance hallway the pavement with a carefully layed pattern of pebbles.
