The former Colónia Balnear da Areia Branca is located on the Atlantic front of the Praia da Areia Branca urban centre. It is bounded to the north by the Colónia Balnear da Casa Pia, to the south and east by the dunes and to the west by Praia do Areal Sul.
Built in the 1960s, it has an iconic aeroplane-shaped layout, giving rise to an interesting tripartite volumetry with the hishest body in a "v" shape, which makes it easy to integrate into the dune space and gives the whole a discreet dynamic.
It has been closed since 2009, after a heavy storm damaged its roof.
