This convent was founded in 1631 and built in the Manueline style. After the 1755 earthquake it was rebuilt. Later, in 1834, with the extinction of the religious orders in Portugal, the convent was closed down.

In 1842 it was sold in fractions for residencial use. Now it's abandoned.
